A behavior support plan is an effective tool for supporting someone who is engaging in dangerous, unhealthy, or illegal behaviors, or who exhibits behaviors that need support. Best practice requires plans that are person-centered, positive, proactive, and preventative. This training will outline essential ingredients that should be included in every plan to ensure that it will prioritize safety while still protecting a person’s legal rights, building their skills, and ultimately improving their quality of life.

Articulate the 5 stages of the crisis cycle
Understand the types of strategies to develop for each of the different stages
Learn to identify potential replacement behaviors that are safer, healthier, and legal
Advocate for proactive and preventive strategies over reactive and restrictive responses
